Alia Bhatt turns fashion designer

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania star, Alia Bhatt has tied up with online fashion portal, Jabong, to design their capsule collection under the label, Alia. The actor unveiled her winter fall collection at an event in Mumbai on Monday.

According to pinkvilla.com, Alia says she was not much of a fashionista initially, but during the shoot of Student of the Year, in which she plays the role of a brand-conscious diva, she fell in love with the fashion world. However, the 21-year-old owes her fashion influences to Karan Johar. “Basically, Karan Johar has a great influence on me and he has a great fashion sense. He tells me when I am inappropriately dressed and when I am looking good,” adds Bhatt.

She credits celebrity designer Manish Malhotra for her fashion line inspiration, “I definitely look up to Manish and also because I had the privilege of working with him in my first film. Even today, he is very enthusiastic about his work; he changes his clothes and collections with time,” Alia told IANS.

The actor describes her clothing range as a reflection of her own self. “The collection is very simple, it’s very me. It’s a fall/winter collection. So there are lots of sweat shirts. It is very personal and special for me. I want everybody to enjoy this. A lot of importance has been given to animal prints as I love animals,” she said. On the film front, Alia is currently shooting for Shaandar with Shahid Kapoor.
